DHT or Dihydrotestosterone is considered to be the no.1 cause of hair loss in men and women (Read on Causes of Men Hair Loss and Causes of Women Hair Loss). DHT is caused by the contact of the skin and scalp enzyme with testosterone – when this happens, it breaks the cycle necessary for robust hair growth by taking over the cell and sending wrong signals to the brain. This reduces the follicles of hair to a small size that induce hair fall.
The effect of DHT varies in men and women. DHT hair loss in men occurs in patches while women it happens through thinning of the hair. This is more common in male than in females because men have more testosterone. It is a main cause of balding among men.
However, a recent study show that it is not only DHT is responsible for hair loss. Though it causes androgenetic alopecia, 5ar or 5 alpha reductase turns testosterone into DHT but that’s not all. There is also 3kr which performs the same function. So it will be best not to cling only to those products that treat DHT alone.
If you are one of the people affected by DHT, fret not. You can spend countless amount
of money on concealers of hair baldness, shampoos which promises hair growth, wigs

So, if you’ve tried almost everything in the market that promises you less hair loss, and changed your diet and minimized your stress levels but it still doesn’t work, the cause of the thinning or balding of your hair may be DHT. Try consulting a trusted dermatologist near you for best hair loss treatment.
